Production Perfect Results with Engineered ProMark Toners, Developers

MICR character signal strength that holds up from check to check and printer to printer is the test of top-line production MICR digital printers and MICR toners. The American National Standards Institute requires MICR character signal strengths between 50 and 200 percent. Rosetta Technologies standards require that each character's signal strength registers 80 percent or higher, meeting international MICR standards.

ProMark toners and developers engineered by Rosetta Technologies have developer lifetimes of 1 million images or more. "It has to work from the first print to the last print," explains Matthias Regelsberger, VP engineering for Rosetta Technologies. For some customers, reaching that 1 million mark might take a year. That's one of the customer benefits of RICOH production digital printers. They're engineered with Rosetta Technologies MICR know-how and use Rosetta-engineered ProMark toners and developers.

When Regelsberger verifies a new RICOH/Rosetta Technologies MICR printer, he scans checks printed during a 1-million-check print evaluation. The scans generate reports on MICR signal strength, MICR character dimensions, and more. ProMark MICR toners and developers are specifically engineered for each MICR production printer. The toner is optimized for the printer's resolution to deliver a MICR signal strength of 80 percent or higher.

The 5-color production Pro C7500PM 5-color MICR digital press prints 2400x4800 DPI at 95 pages per minute. Rosetta Technologies ran 1.3 million checks over three weeks without changing the developer during Pro C7500PM testing. The machine and resulting checks printed on 24 lb blank check stock met or exceeded Rosetta Technologies's standards.

"We make sure that the MICR font is working well and meets all check handling conditions that the checks might go through," Regelsberger said. "The MICR development at Rosetta Technologies is what gives us that signal strength." Rosetta Technologies tests more than the MICR line. The Pro C7500PM 5-color capabilities were also tested during a 1.3 million print baseline test. The 5-color transpromotional prints with a check were in register, eye-catching, and the embedded check met all ANSI standards.

The Pro C7500PM, with optional 5th-color capabilities, can print checks using fluorescent red toner in the 5 th station. The added value is secure, high-quality color checks that meet all ANSI standards.

The result of Rosetta Technologies' MICR technology development is the industry's top-line, totally secure, production-class, 5-color MICR check printing solution, the RICOH Pro C7500PM. No other manufacturer offers versatile 5-color printing at 95 ppm at this price point.
