Rosetta Technologies, a leading provider of Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) printers and check and Image Replacement Document (IRD) software solutions, today announced the launch of the P 501M MICR Printer, a 45-page-per-minute black & white desktop printer featuring LED imaging technology and using separate drum and toner supplies. LED imaging permits the P 501M to print high quality checks at up to 1,200 x 1,200 dpi resolution without slowing down, while the separate drum and toner supplies provide the lowest possible cost per page, simplified maintenance, and versatility.
The P 501M replaces the previous 42-ppm SP 4510DNM in the Rosetta MICR printer product line. "In addition to offering faster speeds, a more powerful controller, increased memory and a higher maximum paper capacity, the next generation P 501M uses longer lasting supplies for maximum productivity at minimal cost of ownership", said Rob Hullar, President of Rosetta Technologies. "Bottom line, the P 501M provides good value in a small package." For greater versatility, customers can freely exchange the MICR toner cartridge and drum for standard (non-magnetic) supplies in seconds to leverage their investment to print in any Windows, Mac or Linux/UNIX environment in addition to producing checks. PostScript3 emulation and PCL drivers and PDLs are standard; genuine Adobe® PostScript®3™ and IBM IPDS® are available as options to support general office printing applications.
Designed in partnership with office equipment industry leader Ricoh, the P 501M is excellent for banks, payroll processors, accounts payable departments, title companies and insurers generating stacks of checks and negotiable documents. Built for dependability, the P 501M is rated to handle volumes of up to 10,000 pages per month, with a maximum duty cycle of up to 150,000 prints per month to meet peak period demands. A wealth of security features including data encryption, user authentication and Locked Print keep in-house check printing applications secure. For added peace of mind, customers can select the secure models with paper tray locks to keep check stock protected.
The P 501M MICR Printer is available in five configurations. The Standard version includes a 500-sheet paper tray, 100-sheet bypass, a 1.3 GHz Intel CPU with 2 GB RAM, and is pre-loaded with Rosetta's E13B and CMC7 MICR resident fonts. Gigabit Ethernet and USB 2.0 Type B interfaces are standard for a choice of shared network access or peer-to-peer connectivity for more control over MICR workflows. The P 501M Secure version adds a lock to the standard paper tray to protect valuable check stocks. More secure environments can step up to the P 501M Guardian model that includes the locking paper tray plus a 320 GB hard disk with Locked Print, Data Encryption and Overwrite. Customers with MICR plus host print applications can choose the P 501M IPDS loaded with genuine native IPDS. A standard locking paper tray on the P 501M IPDS version yields the P 501M IPDS Secure. Each of these ANSI-compliant MICR printers can be further customized with optional interfaces and up to three 250-sheet or 500-sheet standard or locking paper trays to boost capacity to up to 2,100 sheets for non-stop productivity.
"Every member of the Rosetta P 501M MICR Printer Series is designed to provide the highest quality MICR output. In fact, we guarantee that every P 501M Series printer will deliver checks that meet or exceed ANSI and ABA standards for MICR adhesion, signal strength, character sharpness, and read rates when using our MICR fonts and supplies," furthered Hullar. "We have been partnering with Ricoh for decades, so we know that we are providing proven solutions to our customers that will perform beyond expectations."
