Rosetta IRDPrint / Director

The Rosetta IRDPrint /Director is a powerful software solution designed to provide all of the functionality required to manage printing of Image Replacement Documents (IRD's) defined by the "Check Clearing for the 21st Century" Act (Check 21).

Rosetta Technologies is committed to developing efficient and effective secure document solutions to meet the requirements of the worldwide financial community. The corporation has 20 years experience providing printing solutions, hardware and software to banking, credit union, government, insurance, and financial services.

Our engineering team has been actively represented on the Accredited Standards Committee X9 (ASC X9) for all Financial Industry Standards. Consequently Rosetta Technologies' check printing solutions meet and exceed the output requirements established by the American National Standards Institute (ANS).

These include the following:

  • ANS X9.7 Bank Check Background and Numerical Convenience Amount Field

  • ANS X9.13 Specifications for Placement and Location of MICR Printing

  • ANS X9.18 Paper Specifications for Checks

  • ANS X9.27 Print Specifications for Magnetic Ink Character Recognition

  • ANS X9.100-111-Specifications for Check Endorsements (Presently DSTU x9.90)

For the first time in the history of the US banking industry the Check 21 Act mandates print quality standards for check images. If you have any questions regarding your capability to meet these standards please contact Rosetta Technologies Professional Services.

We are also dedicated to insuring the print industry "best practices" are adopted in the future. Rosetta Technologies is dedicated to insuring that your investment in our MICR printers, supplies and software is protected today and in the future.

The Rosetta IRDPrint / Director incorporates the flexibility to support the majority of the different levels of implementation that are anticipated during the initial deployment of Check 21 by the financial industry. It is compatible with the entire line of Rosetta Technologies MICR printers that accept PCL and PostScript. The output from these printers meets Rosetta Technologies' stringent performance and quality requirements and exceeds ANSI X9.100-140-2004 image quality. The software may also support printers from other vendors (subject to Rosetta Technologies' certification).

The software accepts the Check 21 compliant image bitmaps and the associated data files and will print Image Replacement Documents (IRDs) in a 1-up & 3-up format (for forward documents) and 2-up & 4-up format (for return document) to meet a variety of standard and customized output requirements.

IRD Print / Director

The Rosetta IRD Print / Director software accepts check images and the associated data defined in the ANSI X9.100-140-2004 specification from your image vendors system and assembles them for output to certified Rosetta Technologies IRD printers. It includes everything you need in a Print Director IRD solution. It may be installed in a central item processing site, regional processing site, item consolidator location or bank branch. It provides the 6 key functions you need to provide easy implementation of Check 21 print applications.

These are:

  • IRDPrint Job Composition

  • IRDPrint Manager

  • IRDPrint Security Printing

  • IRDPrint Job Re-composition

  • IRDPrint Reprinting

  • Reporting and Auditing

Rosetta IRD Print / Director software also accounts and supports the operational controls and service level requirements for installation at a central MICR printing location.

IRDPrint Job Composition

IRDPrint / Director software composition engine allows importing check images and the associated data and the assembly of IRDs defined in the ANSI X9.100-140-2004 specification. IRDs may be composed using standard data formats or customized to accommodate non-standard data. For further information on the support of non-standard data call Rosetta Technologies Professional Services.

The intelligent composition engine includes an intuitive graphical set-up interface that insures a fast learning curve and easy operation.

Print composition also allows the configuration of IRD's for 3-up output subject to the specific capabilities of the destination printer.

IRDPrint Manager

The IRD Print / Director manages the distribution of print files to designated printers. In addition, it controls the print queue at each destination and the prioritization of print jobs using application level parameters.

These powerful tools allow the software distribution to be optimized to match your unique print production resources. For example critical jobs may be directed to the fastest printer or the most experienced operator. Load balancing allows multiple print jobs to be split over two or more printers.

The IRD Print / Director is optimized to drive every Rosetta Technologies certified PCL printer at full rated speed.

IRDPrint Security Printing

The IRD Print – Director software controls the delivery of print jobs to any network attached Rosetta MICR printer. It is optimized to support bi-directional communications and allows tracking of significant events. This allows the print job manager to track not only when a job is delivered to the printer but also when each page is delivered into the output tray. NOTE: This level of feedback may not be available when using non- Rosetta Technologies certified printers.

The IRDPrint – Director may be configured for automated recovery and can redirect print jobs to another network printer in the event of printer failures. It adds bursting or cut marks to optimize IRD post-processing.

IRDPrint Re-composition

Re-composition allows seamless transfer of a job from one MICR printer to another. A job originally composed to print on one printer may be recomposed to print on another that requires different print parameters, for example when feeder trays or output trays are configured differently.

Re-composition allows IRD's to be effectively and efficiently sent to any MICR printer or any print site in your enterprise.

IRDPrint Intelligent Job Recovery

The recovery function enables print jobs to be terminated on one printer and the remainder of the job to be sent to another. Tracking of each page delivered into the output trays reduces the possibility of an IRD being printed twice after a paper jam or power failure.

Reporting and Auditing

The IRDPrint – Director system reporting and audit function captures a wide variety of important print job functions and events.

These include log files that capture the following:

  • Date & time job received by print manager

  • Date & time job delivered to a specified printer

  • Date & time printed and delivered to output tray

Standard reports are also produced that contain the following:

  • Collection detail information

  • Batch detail information
