Announces Software to Preview Image Cash Letters in Support of the
Banking Industry Check 21 Act FOR RELEASE OCTOBER 16th, 2006 TAMPA, Florida - Rosetta Technologies Corporation, a leader in secure enterprise printing solutions, today announced the availability of a powerful new software solution to preview and edit electronic Image Cash Letters (ICLs) now used within the banking industry as a result of the Check Clearing for the 21st Century Act to present and clear checks. The ICLs follow a standard developed by an ANS X9 subcommittee. As the X9 standards have evolved, the banking industry has two major revisions currently deployed by various financial institutions. These are DSTU X9.37 – 2003 and X9.100-180-2006 FINAL, revisions being utilized by agreement between banks, the Federal Reserve and item processors. Eventual transition to one specification is inevitable. However, in the interim, verification of compliance with each specification is a challenge for many institutions. Processing image cash letters is further aggravated by the expensive computing equipment and resources required to process and store these X9 files. Field experience indicates that file corruption, missing data, data errors and missing images contribute frequently to the cost of ICL processing and IRD printing.
