TPSi Improves Check Printing Quality and Efficiency with InfoPrint’s 1357 Pro MICR Printer

About the Customer

TPSi was founded in Tulsa OK in June, 1975 as a technical programming concern. In 1978, TPSi shifted its emphasis to Computer Output Management and Distribution services. In October 2008 TPSi opened a new production facility in Albuquerque, NM, increasing overall company production capacity by 50%.

TPSi provides highly specific and unique document solutions including royalty and refund checks for the oil & gas industry, as well as check disbursements for more than 100 private and public utilities, financial institutions, and health industry, among others.

The Situation

Over the last decade TPSi has experienced steady customer growth. They had been printing checks – more than 100,000 per month – on three workgroup MICR printers. The print volume was putting enormous stress on the printers which resulted in MICR toner smearing, curled output, paper jams and other serious quality issues. Because of their aging and deficient system, TPSi was constantly facing missed deadlines and escalating service costs and toner expenditures.

In addition to the quality issues, TPSi’s workgroup printers would not interface with their output management system, InfoPrint ProcessDirector. This forced them to use disparate systems that caused process interruptions and inefficiencies.

Rosetta Technologies’ Solution

As a loyal InfoPrint customer, TPSi was among the first companies to contact InfoPrint when the Pro MICR printer line was publicly announced. They selected InfoPrint’s Pro 1357 MICR printer which offers 135 impressions per minute.

InfoPrint’s Pro printers are next-generation cut sheet production printers that offer all the features of traditional high volume machines but at a much lower acquisition cost and total operating cost. They are built for environments that need high speed to meet tight print windows, but have less overall monthly volume.

The Outcome

With the transition to InfoPrint’s production MICR printer, TPSi has eliminated all MICR quality issues and is now able to meet all their customers’ deadlines, oftentimes many days in advance.

TPSi has also been able to optimize uptime with the ability to add toner while the printer is actively printing, as well as make use of the printer’s Trainable Customer Replacement Units (TCRU) for regular printer maintenance rather than scheduling an InfoPrint technician to perform the service.

And by utilizing an InfoPrint Pro MICR printer, they were also able to streamline their output system by transitioning all their MICR output to InfoPrint ProcessDirector.
